Located in Shepshed, just outside Loughborough, Briarvale (Nirvana Care Homes Ltd) is a specialised home providing care to both long term and respite residents with learning and other disabilities. As of December 2011, Briarvale has been found to be meeting all standards of care expected by an unannounced inspection from the CQC. In particular, it was noted in the report that the residents were well cared for and their religious needs met. “Most of the people who used the service at Briarvale had specific communication needs which meant we were unable to speak to them at the time of our visit. We did speak to some people’s relatives to obtain their views on the service provided. Those we spoke to were very satisfied with the care and support provided at Briarvale. One told us how well their relative’s cultural needs were taken into account, including weekly visits to their place of worship. One told us; “The care is marvellous”, and another said, “They are cared for really well.” The CQC inspection is a widely recognised mark of excellence in the care industry. The home, which is a modern-style chalet, is set within an acre of enclosed gardens and offers a comfortable atmosphere for our residents. We employ a friendly, experienced staff and offer an extensive activities programme that caters for all tastes and cultural/religious needs. Facilities include TV lounges, quiet areas for reading and listening to music, rooms with en-suite, a comprehensive menu and Snoozelen. The needs of all residents are assessed prior to admission, which, along with participation from the resident and relatives, enables us to develop an individual care plan. We actively work to encourage our residents to make their own decisions and choices, and invite active participation from family and friends.
